I have a pasture located in Austin County that was sprigged in coastal over 10 years ago and slowly was taken over by bahia grass. The pasture is now 90% bahia grass and the other 10% is still coastal. The ground is a very deep sand with a clay hardpan at about 18 inches of depth. We are currently in a severe drought as you know. I was wondering if heavy plowing or moleboarding at this time was the right thing to do to reestablish the coastal. I know spraying with cimmarron or allie would kill the bahia but i don't think the coastal would come back on its own without stirring the soil. Also spraying at this time would do little good with the severe lack of moisture. Much advice would be greatly appreciated to help me with this project.

Brett, we had a similar situation last year. We are in sandy soil in Colorado Co. Disc the pasture very well and followed that up with rich chicken manure. the coastal came back very nice and got one cut this year before the rain stopped

Matt, at what time of the year did you disc and fertilize?
