I am interested to buy some Tifton85 seed to take to Nicaragua by air freight it bhas to come out from Houston,Los Angeles or Miami who could I contact to buy and get planting instructions?

I would suggest looking around this forum as several Tiffton sellers have posted their information here.
As for transporting it to Nicaragua I think you would have to contact USDA about that to make sure transporting live plant material of this type is ok.

I would recomend contacting your county Texas Cooperative Extension agent. They will be familar with who in your area sells sprigs.

David,
I plan to purchase about 100 acres of sandy soil in Parker, Wise, Montague or Collin county for a small rotational grazing cattle operation. I would like to establish tifton-85. Will it survive and thrive that far west and north?
I do plan to irrigate and I am considering a portable water reel by smith that can put down 1 inch of water on 2 acres at a pass(10 hours). Do you have any other irrigation system recommendations?
I have been reading that you must kill the existing vegetation, fertilize the land with chicken litter and disc prior to planting. Please provide an outline of the process with timing.
It will likely be April, at the earliest, before I acquire the land. Is it possible to prepare the kill the plants, prepare the land and plant the tifton in April and May.

I sprigged 21 acres of Tifton85 just east of taylor texas march 30,2008. How long should it take for me to see grass coming up? I currently do not see anything breaking the top of the ground.
