Thinking about planting a field of summer legumes for grazing lambs, they do poorly on even the best grass in the summer without suppliments or frequent worming. I have been reading about lablab and burgundy bean. Can you plant summer forage beans in the same field every year or do you have to rotate to avoid buildup of pests? If you have to rotate, can you rotate to another forage bean or another summer legume? Does it make a difference what your winter phase choice is (ryegrass, oats) in terms of breaking the pest cycle? Should I be talking to farmers?
