David,
There is not a very good way to remove Dallas grass from a Bermuda pasture with out herbicides. The most economical method is to spot treat the Dallas grass with Round Up. This will kill the Dallas grass and any Bermuda that it gets on so try to spray specific areas and stay away from windy days. You can also try Oasis with the higher end rates that are recommended but it is rather expensive. It does pretty good controlling Dallas grass and will slow down the Bermuda but won't kill it and it will come back with out any trouble. I hope this helps. Thank you for considering the Center for Grazinglands and Ranch Management and if you have any further questions please feel free to send them my way.

I am trying to grow a Bermuda grass loan on an old pasture which was seeded with Bahia grass. Is there a herbicidal way to kill off the Bahia? Is there any way to disable the seeds that have already been sewn this year?

I apologize for missing this post for so long.

There is nothing you can do about the seed currently in the ground. You can use Cimarron to control the Bahia. It is expensive but effective as long as you follow the label and time the application properly.

From Dr. Larry Redmon, State Forage Specialist, TAMU: Right now we have a special use permit for johnsongrass control in bermudagrass. The product is called Maverick and it is used and 1 1/3 oz per acre when the johnsongrass is 18-24" tall. There will be no injury to the bermudagrass. Although Maverick is NOT labeled for nutsedge control, it is very effective on that species as well.
