I have approximately 15 acres I want to plant in permanent hay. I have been growing Sudan but want to plant a permanent hay this year. What might you suggest? I'd prefer seeding it vs. sprigs. What might be a good seed to plant and at what rate of application? Could I plant two kinds of seed at the same time, possibly bermuda and Sudan. Cut the sudan and let the bermuda grow between the Sudan or would there be too much competition for nutrients and water? I am just south of Aquilla the soil is sandy and drains well.If sprigging is the only way any ideas on how to get contact information on any of spriggers in that area of the state and what it costs for them. With the drought potential is sprigging a waste of time and money since rain is important for them to survive? Appreciate any and all input.
