We planted jiggs burmuda in early April this year. It came up with a pretty good stand. The Nutsedge has come up and trying to choke it out. How can I kill out the Nutsedge?

Jiggs is one of the most aggressive varieties of Bermuda you can have so, it might be possible for you to choke out the Nutsedge by feeding the Jiggs. While the Nutsedge will get fertilized too, the Jiggs grows at a faster rate. It may be too late in the year to treat Nutsedge. Check with your County Extension Agent and your local chemical supplier. Also, review an article on Nutsedge and products to treat it at the following site:

From Dr. Larry Redmon, State Forage Specialist:

No hope, unfortunately.

If Maverick receives full label registration this fall, you will have a product that you can use next year.
