There are many good sources of the type of information that you are looking for out there. One shiny publication with lots of figures and tables that I have found to be extremely informative is called, "Grazing on Public Lands", published by the Council for Agricultural Science and Technology (CAST). As the title indicates, the subject matter is predominantly geared toward the debate regarding grazing on public lands. To me, that is where the heart of this debate lies. The information is generally applicable to private lands as well. As far as where to obtain a copy of this publication, I'm not sure what to tell you. It has an ISBN number: 1-887383-09-3. This may help your local library or bookstore track it down. If you know any of the Task Force Members which were responsible for producing the document, that is how I got my copy. Here's a list of their names: Bill Laycock (chair) and Dick Loper both of Wyoming, Fred Obermiller and Marty Vavra of Oregon, Lamar Smith of Arizona, Sherman Swanson of Nevada and Phil Urness of Utah. You did not indicate where you are located, but if you know any of those individuals they could help you locate a copy of the publication.
