Dr. Abdi A. Jama is an Assistant Research Scientist with Texas Agricultural Experiment Station, in College Station, Texas. Dr. Jama received his B. S. in Animal Husbandry from Somali National University in Mogadishu in 1981. He received both his M.S. and Ph.D. in Rangeland Ecology and Management in 1988 and 1998 respectively from Texas A&M University College Station, Texas, USA,
The focus of Dr. Jama's research interest lies mainly in livestock/forage/rangeland interactions as it relates to natural resource utilization, development, environmental conservation and sustainability in areas occupied by rural communities (pastoral) in the developing countries. He has participated in the forage/livestock research, development and conservation projects in a national setting (Somali National Range Agency, Somalia) and in international settings (International Livestock Research Institute, Sub-humid Program, Nigeria and Livestock Early Warning System, East Africa- Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Uganda).
