Africa Weather

To better serve the needs of the Livestock Early Warning Systems (LEWS) project in the USAID Global Livestock CRSP and the Global Decision Support Systems project in the USAID SANREM CRSP, this program will gather daily rainfall estimates from the NOAA RFE satellite estimates across Africa by longitude and latitude within the Famine Early Warning Systems (FEWS NET). The longitude ranges from 20W to 55E. The latitude ranges from 40N to 40S. The values should be entered as decimal degrees with a resolution is 0.1 degrees. West longitudes and south latitude must be entered as negative numbers. For example, 15W would be entered as -15 or 2.2S would be entered as -2.2. The map may be clicked on to automatically fill in the longitude and latitude fields.

The minimum start date is 01/01/1998 and the maximum end date is 04/12/2005 . Days with missing data will give -9999 rainfall unless interpolation is selected.
Rainfall, minimum, and maximum temperature are gathered from the Climate Prediction Center.
